Built in the 714.
Named for the Orange County area code we grew up in — and founded in 2023, after watching too many local businesses buy software that never shipped.
From rescue projects to a repeatable model
Before 714software had a name, we were the engineers Orange County businesses called after the first agency disappeared. We inherited half-finished platforms, six-figure invoices, and launch dates that had quietly slipped by a year — and we saw exactly how software projects die: vague scope, invisible progress, and incentives that reward hours billed over software shipped.
So in 2023 we built the studio those businesses should have been able to hire, and every scar became a rule. Budgets that ballooned became the pay-when-it-ships model — we build at our own cost, and you pay nothing until the finished product is in your hands. Status decks that hid stalled work became Friday demos of real software on a staging URL. Five-figure invoices became $0 to start and $35 a month — software we build, host, and keep running so you never have to, with your data always yours to take.
Since then, that model has carried us from single-location restaurants to fintech platforms moving real money — the same senior hands, the same weekly cadence. And we are still independent: no outside investors, no acquisition, no one to answer to except the businesses whose numbers we are paid to move.

Six things we refuse to compromise
These aren't values on a wall. They're the operating rules of every engagement, and the reason clients from our first year are still clients today.
Business first, technology second
We open every engagement with your P&L, not our stack. Software is only good if it moves a number you care about — revenue up, hours down, errors gone. If custom software isn't the right answer, we say so and point you somewhere cheaper.
Working software over status meetings
Every Friday you see the actual product, running, clickable, deployed to staging. Not a slide about the product. Progress you can touch is the only progress report we believe in.
You don't pay until it ships
We build at our own risk: no deposits, no milestone invoices, nothing until your finished product is in your hands — then services start from $35 a month. Risk belongs with the people who can control it, and that's the builders.
One senior builder, start to finish
No pyramid of juniors learning on your invoice, no hand-offs between departments. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who designs, builds, and ships your product — with trusted specialists brought in only when a build genuinely needs them.
Your data is always yours
The software 714software builds, we own, host, and keep running — that's exactly what lets you start for $0 and pay $35 a month instead of a five-figure invoice. But your business data is yours, always: exportable on request, any time, no drama. You run your business on the software; you never have to babysit a codebase.
Built to be maintained
The cheapest code is code the next person understands — and on our model, the next person is us, next year. We write everything typed, tested, and documented, because we live in it for the life of your subscription. Clean code is a big part of why that subscription stays $35 a month and not $350.
One builder. Zero telephone game.
No account managers in the middle, no offshore handoffs, no junior pyramid. The person you meet on the first call is the person who ships your product.
Anthony
Founder & Software Engineer, 714software
714software is a one-person studio, run by a software engineer who builds the whole product end to end. Every project — the scoping call, the architecture, the code, the Friday demo, the launch — is handled by the same engineer, start to finish. Nothing gets lost between departments because there are none.
That's not a limitation; it's the product. You get one accountable engineer who knows your business, your product, and your roadmap personally — backed by trusted specialist collaborators (design, security review, app-store assets) brought in only when a build genuinely needs them.
- You always talk to the person writing the code
- One mind holding the whole system — no telephone game
- Specialists brought in per-build, never a rotating cast
- Replies in hours, not ticket queues
At home in your industry
Eight verticals, one habit: we learn how your business makes money before we write a line of code.
Questions, answered
The things owners and operators ask us most — answered the way we'd answer on a call.
Most of our clients aren't tech companies — they're restaurants, clinics, freight carriers, retailers. We translate everything into business terms, demo working software weekly, and never hide behind jargon. If something we say doesn't make sense, that's our failure, not yours.
About two hours a week: a Friday demo where you react to working software, plus async questions in a shared channel. Your input steers the product; the building is our job.
714software is based in Orange County, California, and works US hours. Nothing is subcontracted overseas. The person you meet on the first call is the person writing your code.
We integrate. Sometimes we're the senior builder who ships the big thing while your team keeps the lights on; sometimes we set architecture and standards your team carries forward. We leave codebases and habits your engineers keep.
Strategy calls happen within a couple of days. Discovery typically starts within two weeks of signing, and you'll see the first working software two to three weeks after that.
Work with people who ship.
Tell us what's slowing your business down. You'll get an honest read on whether software fixes it — and if it does, we build it and you don't pay until it's finished. The call is free either way.
