From pitch deck to fundable product: an expense platform from zero
An example build for an early-stage fintech
Founders with domain expertise, investor interest, and no engineering team — on a four-month clock. We design and build a corporate expense platform from zero: the kind of live, credible product investors actually back.

The challenge
Picture two founders with banking experience who know mid-market finance teams are stuck between consumer-grade expense apps and bloated enterprise suites. They have domain expertise, early design ideas, and investor interest — but no engineering team and a four-month window to show a working product.
The product has hard requirements from day one: bank-grade security expectations, receipt processing that actually works, and accounting integrations (QuickBooks, NetSuite) that reconcile to the penny.
The approach
A build like this runs product design and architecture in parallel: week one produces clickable prototypes for customer interviews while the data model and banking integrations are derisked underneath.
Scope discipline makes the deadline: we draw a hard line around the 'fundable demo' feature set — card feeds, receipt AI, approval flows, and QuickBooks sync — and defer everything else to a post-raise roadmap written together.
What we build
The scope a build like this ships — and with 714software, the whole thing is delivered before you pay a cent: no deposits, no change orders, no surprise line items.
- Corporate card transaction feeds via Plaid with real-time categorization
- AI receipt capture: photo → parsed merchant, amount, tax, and category in seconds
- Policy engine: spend limits and approval chains configured per team, not per code release
- Two-way QuickBooks and NetSuite sync with penny-accurate reconciliation reports
- SOC 2-track architecture: SSO, audit trails, and encryption baked in from the seed stage
